Nigeria's economy grew 4.43 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of this year, up from 3.89 percent recorded in the preceding quarter, official data showed on Monday.

Growth accelerated in both the oil and non-oil sectors, compared with the first quarter, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a report.

Africa's most populous nation's economy has been gathering momentum, expanding 3.87 percent in 2025, compared with 3.38 percent in 2024.

However, growth remains well below the 7 percent annual rate that President Bernardinobu has targeted by 2027.

"4.43% growth is good news! But we need to be realistic - 7% by 2027 seems ambitious. Can we actually get there?"

"Oil and non-oil sectors both growing? That's a positive sign. We can't rely on oil forever. Diversification is key."

"The economy is moving in the right direction, but Nigerians aren't feeling it in their pockets yet. When will the benefits reach ordinary people?"

"We're growing, but so are prices. A growing GDP doesn't mean much if citizens are struggling to afford food and rent."
