FIFA ACCEPTS RESIGNATION OF NFF PRINCIPAL OFFICERS, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR REFORMS

ZURICH – FIFA has accepted the resignation of principal officers of the Nigeria Football Federation and pledged to continue its engagement with the federal government, the NFF administration, and CAF on a new roadmap for comprehensive reforms of Nigerian football.


The development followed a meeting between a Nigerian delegation led by National Sports Commission Chairman Malem Sehudiko and FIFA officials at the world football governing body's headquarters in Zurich on Tuesday.


At the meeting, FIFA encouraged Nigeria to proceed with engagements and interactions to fine-tune a roadmap that would ensure the delivery of expected reforms and an inclusive new NFF emerges.


The resignation of NFF principal officers comes amid ongoing crisis in Nigerian football administration, with stakeholders calling for reforms to address governance issues and improve the country's standing in international football.


The NFF had been under pressure from FIFA and CAF to resolve its leadership disputes.
