FALCONS DRAW WITH SOUTH KOREA IN FINAL FRIENDLY BEFORE WORLD CUP

WARSAW – Nigeria's Under-20 Women's Team, the Falcons, were held to a 1-1 draw by South Korea in their final friendly match played in Poland on Tuesday.


The Falcons had earlier defeated host Poland by a lone goal in their first friendly match last Friday. The friendly matches are part of the team's preparations for this year's World Cup in Poland.


The Falcons will battle Spain in their World Cup opening group match on Monday next week before facing China on Thursday, September 10. Their final group match will be against New Caledonia on Sunday, September 13, 2026.


The draw against South Korea is seen as a positive result, given the Asian side's reputation in youth football. However, the Falcons will need to step up their game against European champions Spain in the tournament opener.


The team has been training in Poland since late August to acclimatise to European conditions.
