   An appeal has gone to the public to make a gradual change in their lifestyle by sleeping very well, eating healthy foods, reducing salt and sugar intake, using seat belts in their vehicles and wearing crash helmets while riding among other precautionary measure.

   The Secretary, Regions Healthcare Foundation, Barr Gloria Odunze made the appeal in an interview with newsmen on the occasion of the commemoration of the 2026 World Brain Day medical outreach with the theme "Healthy Brain, Better you" organized by Regions Healthcare Foundation held last Friday, July 24, at Regions Healthcare, Km 17 Owerri-Portharcourt Expressway, Mgbirichi, Owerri.

   She disclosed that Regions Healthcare Foundation is a charity arm of the medical outfit which reaches out to communities through health education, awareness and sensitization, adding that the World Brain Day comes up every 21st of July and in the course of the commemoration, the foundation conducted free blood sugar test, free blood pressure test and other checks.

   The Regions Healthcare Foundation Secretary also noted that she represented the president of the foundation, Sherece Okafor on the occasion, stressing that the event also featured brain health talk, free health screening, brain teasers and quizzes, Chess, Ludo and Board Games, guided exercise session, exciting prizes to be won and brain health pledge war.

   Also speaking, the Health Educator, Regions Healthcare Foundation, Glory Odoemena disclosed that one out of every four people will experience stroke in their lifetime, stressing that stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death and disability world, according to her also, stroke is preventable and treatable.

   She identified symptoms of stroke as sudden loss of balance, vision loss, one side of one's face dropping, one side of the arm/leg weak or numb and difficulty with speaking and reminded the public that early intervention saves lives, urging them to report without delay when they experience these symptoms.

   Odoemena expressed the determination of the foundation to continue building healthier communities.

   Researches have shown that Regions Healthcare provides advanced medical care across stroke care and neurosurgery, providing specialized medical services in treatment for diseases of the brain, nerves and spinal cord, like stroke, epilepsy and other conditions.
