Mbaise Media Professionals Roll Out Red Carpet

AHIARA MBAISE — It was a moment of profound pride, celebration, and serious soul-searching as the Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP) gathered for a historic reception on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The event honored one of their own, Chief Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku JP, following his election as the Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone C (South-East).

Addressing an enthusiastic audience of media practitioners, community leaders, and stakeholders, FMMP President Comrade Patrick Chinenye Mgbaja delivered a stirring address that traced the remarkable journey of the newly elected Zonal Vice President while throwing down a sharp challenge to the elite and youth of Mbaise.


Mgbaja described Chief Adiuku’s ascension not merely as a personal triumph, but as a collective victory for every reporter in Owerri, campus journalist in Calabar, and editor in Port Harcourt "who dared to believe that our land produces giants."

Recounting Adiuku's extensive track record—which began at the University of Calabar under the banner of the Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists in 2003, navigating through local newspapers like The Red Parrot, The Wish, CityStar, and Independent Voice, and serving in various capacities including Imo NUJ Assistant Secretary and South-East Zonal Secretary—Mgbaja noted:

 "From production assistant to newsroom leader. From chapel officer to zonal Vice President. That is not luck. That is legacy."


Reflecting on the 21-year history of the FMMP—birthed in 2005 under pioneer leader Pastor Christian Nwokocha to unite the media voices of Aboh, Ahiazu, and Ezinihitte—Mgbaja emphasized that the organization was founded for service rather than ceremony.

"We did not form FMMP for ceremony. We formed it for service," Mgbaja asserted. "To sensitize our people. To defend truth. To drive development. To ensure that Mbaise is not just heard, but respected."


Moving from celebration to action, the FMMP leadership issued a passionate tripartite charge to media professionals, investors, and the youth:

1. To Media Professionals: FMMP urged journalists across the region to enlist, identify, and belong, emphasizing unity: "Alone, our voices are echoes. Together, we are thunder."

 2. To Investors: Highlighting the urgent need for home-based industrialization, the federation commended trailblazers like Mr. Boniface Nwagu for establishing industry in Ibeku, Aboh Mbaise. Delivering a stern warning against absentee development, Mgbaja declared, "Do not relent. A nation that does not build at home will always beg abroad."

 3. To the Youth: The federation issued a strong call to reject drugs, fraud, and vices that compromise the future, while celebrating Mbaise sons and daughters excelling across various fields as living proof of the land's enduring excellence.

The grand reception concluded with high hopes that Chief Adiuku’s national assignment will further galvanize the media landscape in the South-East to champion accountability, defend truth, and accelerate regional development.
