Ibeku PHC Earns IMSHIA Commendation for Cleanliness, Staff Commitment and Prompt Service

ABOH MBAISE, Imo State — A Primary Health Centre in Ibeku, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, has received a special commendation from the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) for what the agency described as commendable commitment to quality and patient-centred healthcare delivery.


The commendation followed an assessment visit by the IMSHIA management team as part of its ongoing evaluation of government-owned healthcare facilities in Aboh Mbaise.


During the exercise, the Executive Secretary/CEO of IMSHIA, Dr. Donald Osita Eneh, made an unscheduled stop at Ibeku Primary Health Centre, where he inspected the facility and interacted with members of staff on duty.


Although the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) was not present at the time of the visit, Dr. Eneh reportedly expressed satisfaction with the condition of the facility and the responsiveness of the personnel available.


Three areas particularly attracted the agency's commendation: the cleanliness of the facility, availability of staff and the prompt response of the team on duty.


Rather than overlooking the absence of the OIC, the IMSHIA chief used the visit to acknowledge the efforts of the entire team, directing that his special commendation be conveyed to the OIC and all staff of the health centre.


The recognition is significant because primary healthcare centres are often the first point of contact between citizens and the healthcare system, particularly for people in rural and semi-urban communities.


Dr. Eneh consequently urged other Officers-in-Charge of public health facilities across Imo State to emulate the standard observed at Ibeku PHC, particularly in ensuring that healthcare services remain accessible, responsive, clean and centred on the needs of patients.


The agency's message goes beyond a single health centre: quality healthcare, it suggests, begins with the attitude of the people delivering it.


For residents who depend on public health facilities, however, the bigger question is whether such commendable standards can be sustained and replicated across more primary healthcare centres in Imo State.


The commendation was signed by Dr. Patrick Iwuchukwu, JP, Head, Standards and Quality Assurance Department, for the Executive Secretary/CEO of IMSHIA.
