Owerri — Imo State has officially broken new ground by validating its Women, Peace and Security (WPS) State Action Plan, making it the pioneer state in the South-East to adopt this vital framework.
Driven by multi-stakeholder consultations and aligned with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, the policy focuses on five core pillars: participation, protection, prevention, relief, and recovery. Driven by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare alongside civil society groups like Alliances for Africa, the framework aims to institutionalize women's active involvement in peace-building and community security from the grassroots up.
Have your say:
* Can localized action plans like this genuinely drive grassroots security in Imo State?
* How can communities best support women taking on leadership roles in peace-building? Drop a comment!
