​Imo State — The major agrarian community of Imo State, renowned for producing staple crops like rice, coriander, and vegetables, is facing an agricultural crisis as severe flooding from the Aja River takes over vast farmlands.

​Speaking during a visit by media and community leaders, Woman Leader Ezinne Ngozi Ajonuma described the season as spectacularly difficult, noting that while rice and okra farms are submerged by floodwaters, other sections are suffering from inadequate rainfall, forcing farmers to manually haul water to save their vegetable crops. Farmers also lamented poor access roads to the agricultural zones, calling on the state government—and specifically local representation in the House of Assembly—to provide urgent relief and long-term erosion control.
