Supreme Court Goes Digital as CJN Unveils Major Judicial Reforms

Nigeria's judiciary is set for a major digital transformation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, announced sweeping reforms aimed at making the Supreme Court faster, more transparent, and more efficient.


Speaking at the opening of the Nigerian Bar Association Lagos Branch Law Week 2026, the CJN disclosed that the apex court would soon deploy a National Case Management System to digitally manage cases from filing to final judgment.


According to her, the technology-driven initiative will significantly improve case tracking, reduce delays in justice delivery, strengthen court administration, and promote transparency in judicial processes.


Justice Kekere-Ekun also revealed that the Supreme Court would officially launch its 2026 Practice Directions, making the electronic filing and mandatory upload of court processes and appeal records a standard requirement.


Legal analysts believe the reforms could mark a turning point in tackling Nigeria's longstanding backlog of cases and restoring public confidence in the justice system.
