Rescued Oyo School Kidnap Victims Begin Medical, Psychological Recovery as Makinde Visits

Victims rescued from the recent school kidnapping in Oyo State have begun receiving medical treatment and psychological support following their release after nearly two months in captivity.


Governor Seyi Makinde visited the survivors at the Nigerian Army 2 Division Medical Centre in Ibadan, where he assured them of the government's commitment to their full recovery.


The victims regained their freedom during a coordinated security operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.


Authorities said eight suspected kidnappers were arrested during the operation, while several others were neutralised.


Security agencies maintained that the rescue was intelligence-driven and carried out without the payment of ransom.


Reacting to the development, Peter Obi described the successful rescue as a moment of thanksgiving and commended security personnel for their efforts.


The incident has renewed calls for stronger security around schools and greater investment in protecting students across Nigeria.
