President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointment was announced in a statement by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The new board also includes Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar and Engineer Iyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members, while the agency's Director-General and other executive directors will continue serving on the board.

The REA plays a critical role in expanding electricity access to underserved and rural communities across Nigeria.

Do you think this appointment will accelerate rural electrification, or should more technical professionals lead such agencies?
