Petrol Price Uncertainty Forces Some Filling Stations to Shut

Some filling stations across Nigeria have temporarily shut their doors as marketers suspend fresh purchases due to uncertainty surrounding petrol prices.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) said the situation followed the temporary suspension of Premium Motor Spirit loading from the Dangote Refinery, forcing marketers to buy fuel from private depots at significantly higher prices.

According to IPMAN, ex-depot prices in Lagos now range between ₦1,200 and ₦1,220 per litre, excluding transportation costs.

Despite the development, the association insisted there is no fuel scarcity, urging Nigerians not to panic-buy.

The latest development has, however, raised fresh concerns about the stability of fuel prices and the impact on transport costs and the overall economy.

Do you believe petrol prices in Nigeria will stabilise soon, or should Nigerians prepare for another round of increases?
