Okporo Community Marks 62 Years as Council Chairman Urges Residents to Prioritise Security

The Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Mbarie, has called on residents of Okporo to remain vigilant and take greater responsibility for the security of lives and property in their communities.


Speaking during the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Okporo Middle Age Association, the chairman commended members for sustaining the community-based organisation for over six decades, describing the association as a shining example of unity, peaceful coexistence, and grassroots development.


He noted that community associations remain critical partners in promoting peace and urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to the appropriate security agencies.


"The safety of our communities depends on collective responsibility," he stressed, adding that security remains everyone's business.


In his remarks, President of the association, Mr. Robert Udensi, said the organisation was celebrating 62 years of service to the Okporo community, highlighting its contributions to peace, development, and social harmony.


He thanked the council chairman for identifying with the association and supporting community development initiatives within the local government area.


The gathering attracted community leaders, stakeholders, and residents who reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace and development in Okporo.
