The Nigerian naira recorded a marginal decline against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market, according to the latest figures released by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Data showed that the local currency weakened slightly to about ₦1,379.65 per dollar, while the parallel market remained relatively stable at around ₦1,413 per dollar.
The development comes despite Nigeria's foreign reserves standing at approximately $51.77 billion, a level many analysts consider relatively healthy.
Financial experts say the slight depreciation reflects ongoing market dynamics, although they note that stronger reserves could provide additional support for exchange rate stability over time.
Many Nigerians, however, remain more concerned about the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on food prices, transportation costs and the overall cost of living.
