'Many Fathers Have Abandoned Their Responsibilities' – Bishop Raises Concern at Anglican Men's Conference

The 29th Annual Conference of the Christian Men's Fellowship (CMF) of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu ended with a strong call on fathers to return to their God-given responsibilities at home and in society.


Held at Immanuel Anglican Church, Upe N'Omuma, under the theme "Men of Encouragement: The Wonderful Role of a Christian Father in Times Like These," the conference attracted delegates from across the diocese.


Activities included Holy Communion, lectures, choir presentations, quizzes, thanksgiving services and award presentations.


In his presidential address, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, expressed deep concern over worsening insecurity in Nigeria, lamenting incidents where kidnapping victims are killed even after ransom payments.


He urged Christian fathers to remain prayerful, exemplary and steadfast in leading their families.


Speakers at the conference also challenged fathers to become active spiritual leaders, stressing that many homes are suffering because men have neglected their responsibilities.


The conference also witnessed a strong display of inter-community cooperation, with traditional rulers and members of neighbouring churches participating in the event.
