The Imo State Police Command has announced what it describes as one of its biggest security breakthroughs in recent months, arresting 184 suspects and rescuing three kidnapped victims during a two-month intelligence-led operation.
Police Commissioner Aboki Danjuma revealed that officers dismantled several criminal networks linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, terrorism and sexual offences. A major operation in the Ebema River Creek led to the arrest of suspected gang members and the recovery of AK-47 rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, charms and even a human skull allegedly used for criminal rituals.
The command also linked the suspects to the killing of two Homeland Security personnel during a failed kidnap attempt earlier this year.
In separate operations, police arrested two men over the alleged sexual abuse of minors, assuring residents that the suspects would face prosecution after investigations.
The commissioner praised officers for their efforts and urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to help combat crime.
What do you think? Is the police doing enough to tackle insecurity, or should more be done to prevent these crimes before they happen?
