Imo Govt Unveils Multi-Billion Naira Projects as EXCO Approves Judges' Quarters, CBT Centres

The Imo State Executive Council has approved a series of major projects expected to reshape the state's judicial, educational and digital infrastructure.


Top on the list is a ₦25 billion contract for the construction of about 40 modern duplexes to serve as official residences for judges, a move the government says will improve the welfare and efficiency of the judiciary.


The Council also approved ₦1.9 billion for the construction of four Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Orlu Zone to end years of hardship experienced by students travelling outside the zone for JAMB and other digital examinations. Work is expected to commence immediately on two pilot centres at Bishop Shanahan Secondary School, Orlu, and Community Secondary School, Omuma, following the release of ₦900 million.


In addition, government ordered immediate intervention to arrest the threatening erosion around the Otamiri River, while also unveiling plans for digital LED billboards and an Internet of Things (IoT)-driven signage management system through a new public-private partnership.


The approvals were announced after the Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
