Imo Government Orders Urgent Repairs, Tightens Security at Special School After Disturbing Report

The Imo State Government has ordered immediate repairs and strengthened security at the State Secondary School for the Deaf following reports exposing the deteriorating condition of the institution.


The directive, issued through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, followed an investigation that reportedly uncovered dilapidated infrastructure, a damaged perimeter fence, inadequate security and conditions that allegedly exposed students to danger.


The ministry apologised over the situation and assured parents that urgent measures had already commenced to restore the school to acceptable standards.


It said relevant authorities had been directed to reinforce security around the institution while repairs begin on damaged facilities.


The government reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, secure and inclusive learning environment for children with special needs.


The development has renewed conversations about the condition of public schools and the need for regular facility inspections.
