Flood Warning: Imo Council Boss Warns Residents Against Dumping Refuse in Drainages

By CAVIMAGES Media

As forecasts predict heavy rainfall and possible flooding this year, Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Mbarie, has warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse, particularly inside drainage channels.

According to him, blocked drainages significantly increase flood risks and could endanger lives and property.

He warned that anyone caught violating environmental sanitation regulations would face government sanctions.

The chairman also advised parents to keep a close watch on their children during the rainy season and discourage unnecessary movement whenever it rains.

Do you think Nigerians take environmental sanitation seriously enough, or is poor waste disposal one of the biggest causes of flooding?
