Owerri, Imo State — As the shockwaves of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) continue to redefine global economies, Imo State is making a bold, future-proof play to ensure its youth are not left behind.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made this clear on Thursday during the official commissioning of the state-of-the-art NASENI Skills Acquisition Centre in Owerri. The monumental project was facilitated by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi in strategic partnership with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Uzodimma emphasized that bridging the technological divide is no longer a luxury, but an absolute survival mechanism.

 "The wave of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is gaining momentum, and we must position and equip our people with the requisite skills to compete favourably on the global stage," Uzodimma asserted. "As technology continues to reshape economies and redefine opportunities, investing in human capital has become an imperative rather than an option."


The Governor reaffirmed his long-standing position that practical skills development remains the surest, most direct pathway to employment, vibrant entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic prosperity for the state's teeming youth population.

He lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s RenewedHope Agenda for aggressively prioritizing technology, innovation, and capacity building, singling out NASENI for its relentless commitment to empowering the people of Imo State with tangible tools for economic self-reliance.


With the centre now fully open, Governor Uzodimma issued a passionate challenge to the demographic that matters most: the youth. He urged them to seize the golden opportunity by enrolling in the facility's programs, acquiring market-relevant technical skills, and positioning themselves as competitive players in an increasingly digitized global economy.

The commissioning of the NASENI centre marks another major milestone in Imo State's ongoing drive to marry infrastructural development with human capital enhancement—ensuring that the hands that build the state are just as sharp as the technology driving the modern world.
