Enugu Police Impound 195 Vehicles, Owners Face Prosecution Over Number Plate Violations

No fewer than 195 vehicle owners in Enugu State may soon face prosecution after the police launched a statewide crackdown on motorists violating vehicle registration and number plate regulations.


The enforcement exercise, supervised by the Commissioner of Police, targeted vehicles operating without proper registration, displaying only one number plate or using covered, defaced, obscured or unauthorised number plates.


In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the command explained that the operation forms part of the nationwide enforcement of traffic regulations aimed at strengthening public safety and improving crime detection.


The police warned that all affected vehicle owners would be prosecuted in accordance with existing traffic laws.


Security experts say properly registered vehicles play a crucial role in tracking criminals and investigating offences.
