Deputy Governor, First Lady Honoured for Advancing Education, Youth Development in Imo

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, and the wife of the Governor, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, have been honoured for their contributions to Education, Women Empowerment and Youth Development, with the recognition drawing renewed attention to the role of leadership in shaping the future of young people.


The honours were bestowed during the graduation and prize-giving ceremony of a private school in Owerri, where Education Stakeholders described both Women as symbols of purposeful leadership and public service.


Receiving the recognition, Lady Ekomaru dedicated the award to every teacher, parent and student working hard to build a better future, stressing that education remains the greatest investment any society can make.


Addressing the graduating Pupils, she urged them to embrace Excellence, Integrity and Service, reminding them that success belongs to those who prepare for it with discipline and determination.


She congratulated the Graduands for their outstanding achievements while commending Teachers and Parents for their sacrifices in nurturing future leaders.


"The future belongs to those who prepare for it today," she declared, encouraging both prize winners and other Pupils never to allow temporary setbacks to define their destiny.


Lady Ekomaru reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Hope Uzodimma's administration to creating a conducive Environment for quality teaching and learning, assuring that government would continue investing in educational development across the State.


Speaking on behalf of the First Lady, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, described the ceremony as more than a graduation exercise, saying it marked the beginning of greater responsibilities for the students.


She urged the graduates to regard their certificates not as the end of learning but as passports to greater achievements through continuous hard work and discipline.


The colourful ceremony attracted parents, educators and dignitaries who applauded the school's commitment to academic excellence.


Do awards like these truly inspire better public service, or should leaders be judged only by measurable achievements?
