Christian Fathers Urged to Reclaim Their God-Given Responsibilities at Egbu Diocese Men's Conference

Christian fathers have been challenged to return to their biblical responsibilities as spiritual leaders and role models in their homes.

The charge came during the 29th Annual Diocesan Men's Conference of the Christian Men's Fellowship (CMF) of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, held at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Upe N'Umunnam, Imerienwe Archdeaconry, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area.

The conference, themed "Men of Encouragement: The Wonderful Role of a Christian Father in Times Like These," was drawn from Acts 4:36 and attracted delegates from parishes across the diocese.

The event featured Holy Communion, lectures, choir presentations, awards, thanksgiving service and a priest competition, with Nekede Parish emerging overall winner, followed by Trans-Egbu Parish and Umualum Parish.

Delivering his presidential address, the Bishop of Egbu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, commended members for the successful conference but expressed deep concern over worsening insecurity in Nigeria.

He lamented the growing trend of kidnappings where victims are sometimes killed even after ransoms are paid, describing the situation as heartbreaking and calling for fervent prayers and righteous living.

Several church leaders also encouraged fathers to become more responsible in raising children and strengthening Christian values at home.

The Chairman of the Fellowship, Mr. Emeka Waneri, thanked participants for making the conference successful, while the Vicar of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, Egbu, Rt. Rev. Erickson Umuduagbo, urged men to return home determined to nurture their families in the fear of God.

The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Fellowship, Ahonanya Chigozie, reminded fathers that they are pillars of both the Church and the family, just as Christ is the head of the Church.

One remarkable highlight of the conference was the cordial relationship displayed between the Anglican host community and neighbouring Catholic faithful, demonstrating unity across denominational lines.
