Child Trafficking: Orlu LG Boss Seeks Partnership With Ghana-Based Indigenes

Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Mbarie, has called for stronger collaboration with Orlu indigenes in Ghana to tackle the growing menace of child trafficking.


During a meeting with members of the Orlu Union in Ghana, the council chairman lamented that many children fall victim to trafficking because of poverty, parental pressure and the pursuit of quick wealth.


He urged all stakeholders to unite in protecting children, insisting that every child deserves love, care and a safe environment.


Leaders of the Orlu Union in Ghana expressed concern over the increasing number of children allegedly trafficked from the area into Ghana, despite several rescue efforts, and appealed for greater cooperation among government agencies, communities and international partners.


Who should bear the greatest responsibility for ending child trafficking—parents, government, traditional rulers or security agencies?
