At 16, Nigerian Girl Makes History as Country's Youngest Chartered Accountant

Nigeria has a new academic sensation.

Sixteen-year-old Fasasiri Okundaye has emerged as the youngest Chartered Accountant in Nigeria after successfully qualifying through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).


Her remarkable achievement has drawn national applause, with the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, describing the feat as a powerful testament to discipline, resilience, hard work, and excellence.


The minister said Okundaye's success demonstrates the limitless potential of Nigerian youths and should inspire young people across the country to pursue greatness regardless of age.


He also congratulated her parents, teachers, and mentors for supporting her journey.


The historic achievement surpasses the previous national record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who qualified as Nigeria's youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17.


Education experts have hailed the accomplishment as proof that Nigerian youths can compete globally when given the right support and opportunities.
