"We Have Achieved Greatness Despite Gaps" — Governor Uzodimma Rallies Nigerians on Democracy Day, Commends Tinubu’s Transformative Reforms

OWERRI — As Nigeria marks another significant milestone in its democratic journey, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called on citizens to protect the Nation's Democratic Foundations, asserting that despite obvious developmental gaps, Nigeria has achieved undeniable greatness through collective resilience.

In a powerful Democracy Day message, Uzodimma described democracy as a system that provides unifying choices, driving national growth through consistent citizen participation and open dialogue.


Reflecting on the country’s political evolution, Governor Uzodimma noted that building a sustainable democracy is a continuous process. He emphasized that the system remains entirely driven by the people, with each day offering a chance to improve upon past efforts.

"Our democratic journey has not been without challenges, but it has consistently demonstrated our resilience, determination, and capacity for growth," Uzodimma stated.


While acknowledging that there is still significant work to be done to bridge developmental gaps across the country, the Governor maintained that the progress recorded so far is a testament to a shared commitment to nation-building.


A major highlight of the Governor's address was his appraisal of the federal government’s current trajectory. Uzodimma explicitly aligned the nation's ongoing progress with the RenewedHope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Describing President Tinubu as a "steadfast democrat and one of the heroes of the democracy we enjoy today," Uzodimma praised the presidency for instigating bold, transformative reforms across multiple sectors. According to the Governor, these policies are intentionally designed to restore hope, unlock economic opportunities, and guarantee long-term growth for every citizen.


Concluding his address, the Imo State Chief Executive urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and supportive of progressive ideals that safeguard national stability.

"As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us keep faith alive in the system we are building and continue to support progressive ideals that promote the unity, stability, and development of our nation," he concluded.
