OWERRI, NIGERIA — Governor Hope Uzodimma has attributed the restoration of peace and stability in Imo State to the aggressive deployment of cutting-edge security intelligence, declaring that the state has successfully turned the corner on its recent security challenges.

​The Governor made this known at the Government House in Owerri during a high-profile courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Defence Intelligence College (DIC), led by its Commandant, Commodore Usman M. Bugaje. The military delegation is currently in the state for a series of official strategic engagements.

​Welcoming the delegation, Governor Uzodimma expressed immense satisfaction with the synergy between the state administration and federal military institutions, noting that intelligence-led operations have been the ultimate game-changer for regional stability.

​"I was delighted to receive the Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Intelligence College (DIC), Commodore Usman M. Bugaje and his team during their official engagement in Imo State," Governor Uzodimma stated. "Our success in tackling the security challenges we once faced was largely driven by the effective deployment of intelligence. Today, to the glory of God, Imo State is secured once again, and we remain committed to sustaining these gains."

THE POWER OF INTELLIGENCE IN MODERN GOVERNANCE

​The meeting underscored a crucial shift in modern warfare and internal security architecture—moving away from raw physical force toward data-driven, preemptive intelligence gathering. Imo State, which previously grappled with complex asymmetric security threats, has seen a dramatic revitalization of socio-economic activities, a feat experts credit to improved inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing.

​Governor Uzodimma emphasized that the safety of lives and property in a vast nation like Nigeria depends heavily on the intellectual and analytical capacity of its defense institutions to stay ahead of criminal elements.

​"The Nigerian nation is intelligence-driven, and a strategic understanding of evolving security realities will better protect our citizens," the Governor remarked. "The DIC has an important role to play in advancing this objective and complementing the security efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."

SUSTAINING THE PEACE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

​In his remarks, Commodore Bugaje praised the Imo State Government for its unwavering logistical and moral support to the armed forces, noting that a secure environment in Imo is vital for the overall stability of the South-East region.

​Reaffirming his administration's readiness to deepen ties with the military's apex intelligence training institution, Governor Uzodimma pledged that Imo State would remain a reliable partner in national security.

​"I commended the Commandant and his team and assured them of our continued support and partnership," Uzodimma concluded, sealing a mutual commitment to ensure that the peace currently enjoyed across the state remains permanent.
