ONITSHA — Public outrage has erupted following a viral social media video exposing horrific bodily injuries inflicted on a 10-year-old boy, Chizitere, by his maternal aunt with whom he lived as a domestic house-help at the Odume Isuowulu Layout in Onitsha.
The young victim is currently fighting for his life under heavy medical care at the General Hospital, Onitsha.
Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, visited the hospital ward to assess the child's recovery. Represented by Hon. Mimi Ipazo, the Member representing Onitsha North Constituency 1 and Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs, the Commissioner expressed deep sadness over the structural failure that allowed such domestic horror to occur.
> "The state government will shoulder full responsibility for Chizitere’s welfare and medical bills," the Commissioner promised. "We are sending an unequivocal message to abusers: Anambra State is entirely hostile to child labor and domestic brutality. The perpetrators will face the absolute weight of the law."

The police command has confirmed that three suspects linked to the severe physical abuse are currently locked up and undergoing active interrogation.
