Gun Battle on the Highway: Police Neutralize 4 Suspected Secessionists, Recover GPMG and IEDs in Anambra

A major security confrontation along the Oboji-Ajalli Road in Orumba South Local Government Area has left four suspected members of an armed secessionist gang dead.


Acting on precise intelligence regarding a heavily armed cell moving through the area, a police-led joint security patrol team intercepted the suspects as they operated out of a white Toyota Sienna bus. A fierce shootout ensued, resulting in the neutralization of four gang members, while others escaped into the surrounding bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.


The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that security operatives recovered a massive cache of combat-grade weaponry from the scene. The seized items included:


 * One General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with 53 rounds of linked ammunition.


 * Two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines.


 * 29 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and 13 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.


 * Four undetonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).


The command has intensified combing operations in nearby forests to track down the fleeing wounded suspects.
