Gov.  Uzodimma Highlights Strategic Importance of Owerri–Port Harcourt Road, Says Imo Open for Investment

Governor Hope Uzodimma has reiterated his administration's commitment to transforming Imo State into a major investment destination through aggressive infrastructure development, describing the ongoing reconstruction of the Owerri–Port Harcourt Road as a critical project that will unlock economic opportunities and strengthen regional connectivity.

Speaking on the significance of the road project, Uzodimma said his earlier assertion that Imo State is accessible for investment by road, air, and sea was not mere rhetoric but a reflection of visible and measurable achievements being delivered across the state.

According to the Governor, the State's ongoing road revolution is focused on eliminating decades of infrastructural deficits across Federal, State, and Local Government roads, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of citizens and creating an enabling environment for business growth.

"We are deliberately addressing every infrastructural deficiency because these roads belong to Ndi Imo and must serve their collective interest," Uzodimma stated.

The governor explained that the Owerri–Port Harcourt Road occupies a strategic position in the economic landscape of the South-East and South-South regions, linking Imo State, popularly known as the Eastern Heartland, with Rivers State, often described as the nation's Treasure Base due to its immense economic importance.

He noted that beyond easing transportation and reducing travel time, the road is expected to stimulate commerce, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and attract investors seeking locations with strong prospects for profitable returns.

Economic analysts have consistently identified transportation infrastructure as a major catalyst for investment and industrial growth. Improved road networks reduce logistics costs, enhance market access, and create opportunities for businesses to expand operations. The reconstruction of the Owerri–Port Harcourt corridor is therefore being viewed as a strategic intervention capable of accelerating economic activities across the region.

Uzodimma emphasized that the project aligns with his administration's broader vision of delivering people-centered governance and creating lasting value for residents of the state.

"We embarked on this project with one objective: to deliver good governance and make life more meaningful for our people," he said.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the positive reactions from residents and road users who have witnessed the ongoing transformation, noting that public appreciation serves as a source of encouragement for his administration.

According to him, the visible excitement and renewed confidence among citizens reinforce the government's determination to pursue more developmental projects that will enhance prosperity and improve the quality of life across Imo State.

The road project forms part of a wider infrastructure renewal programme being championed by the Uzodimma administration, which has seen the rehabilitation and reconstruction of several strategic roads aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic productivity, and positioning Imo State as a preferred destination for investment and development.
