EKITI 2026: Governor Hope Uzodimma Storms Ado-Ekiti, Rallies Support for Oyebanji Ahead of Saturday’s Polls

​ADO-EKITI, NIGERIA — Ahead of tomorrow’s high-stakes governorship election in Ekiti State, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, joined heavyweights of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a massive campaign grand finale in Ado-Ekiti, expressing absolute confidence in a sweeping victory for the ruling party.

​The mega rally, held at the packed 12,000-capacity Ekiti Parapo Pavilion, served as the final campaign push for incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji, whose first-term performance has united key political, traditional, and grassroots structures across the state.  

​"Governor Oyebanji, you have done well. You constructed roads, take a bow and take your votes. You gave out scholarships, take a bow and take your votes. On Saturday, you will only wake up, take your bow and take your votes."

​Speaking after the extensive grassroots engagement, Governor Uzodimma lauded the immense reception from the people of Ekiti, highlighting that the organic crowd across market tiers and local communities reflects deep satisfaction with Oyebanji’s "people-centered development."  

​Uzodimma linked the governance strides in Ekiti directly to the national development roadmap of the ruling party, noting that the state serves as a model sub-national example of what structured leadership looks like.

​"Under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our great party has continued to drive commendable progress and development across the country," Uzodimma stated, reviewing the administration's scorecard. "Ekiti State, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, stands as a shining example of this commitment to good governance."


​Uzodimma was not alone in the massive show of force. The rally saw an unprecedented turnout of APC national leadership and governors, signaling the party's intent to firmly retain the state.

​National Presidency: Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima praised Oyebanji as a leader who "came solidly prepared" with a footprint of patience and structural performance, pointing specifically to massive infrastructural upgrades like the newly commissioned one-kilometer flyover in Ado-Ekiti.  

​The Governors' Contingent: Alongside Uzodimma, governors from Edo (Monday Okpebholo), Kogi (Usman Ododo), Ogun (Dapo Abiodun), and Borno (Babagana Umara Zulum) were on ground to show solidarity.  

​Ekiti Coalition: In a rare display of political synergy, former Ekiti governors across party lines—including Kayode Fayemi, Segun Oni, and Ayodele Fayose—were present, anchoring a unified front for Oyebanji’s second-term bid.


​With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) clearing 14 candidates for the June 20, 2026 off-cycle election, the APC enters tomorrow’s contest backed by a highly visible, house-to-house campaign framework.

​Governor Uzodimma urged voters to turn out peacefully, maintain order at the polling units, and protect the governance momentum that has defined the state over the last three and a half years.
