The Rector Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Dr Basilia Igbokwe has commended the 3rd Inaugural lecturer of the institution, Dr Chikezie Okoronkwo on his presentation of the Inaugural lecture with the topic " Value of Festivals"

In her address, Dr Igbokwe described  the event  as the revival of a cherished academic tradition that defines the intellectual soul of any tertiary institution adding, that an Inaugural lecture is not just a speech but a scholar's public convenant with knowledge, a declaration of his academic journey as well as a gift of insight to the community he serves .

The Rector however, expressed joy that the institution is witnessing the determined restoration of this noble tradition after many years of neglect disclosing, that one of the core pillars of her 11 - point agenda was to reposition Federal Polytechnic Nekede as a hub for applied research, scholarship as well as Intellectual discourse, creating enabling platforms for the intellectual harvest of our distinguished scholar's, as it is fundamental to restoring glory of this Polytechnic and propelling it to greater heights.

Still speaking, the Rector  emphasized, that the inaugural lecture is that platform that deepens town- gown relations, mentors the younger academics, elevates the scholarly profile of the institution disclosing, that she made a view that this culture would not only return but be institutionalized ,

commended the chairman of the inaugural and public lecture series committee, Dr Anayo Uhiara for his relentless dedication and tireless coordination in bringing this lecture to fruition .

On the topic " Value of Festivals"  she asserted that the theme could not be more timely or more reflective of the lecturer's expertise of our national reality noting, that festivals are not merely cultural celebrations but are living repositories of heritage, powerful drivers of tourism, instruments of social cohesion and emerging catalysts for the real estate and creative economy .

The Rector who described  the lecturer Dr Okoronkwo  as a scholar of distinction, an accomplished Estate Surveyor and Valuer, a dedicated administrator, appreciated him  for doing justice  to the topic adding that the exercise is a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of students and colleagues
