Eze Dimgba Charges Media Professionals to Prioritize Mbaise Development in Reportage

The Chairman of the Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Mike Ndudirim Orji, Dimgba Amagbor, has charged Media Professionals of Mbaise origin to remain committed to the progress and development of the region, insisting that local growth and advancement must remain central to their reportage and professional engagements.


The royal father made the call while receiving Executives of the Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP) on a courtesy visit at Chikwadoro Palace, Amagbor Ihitte, in Ezinihite Mbaise Local Government Area.


Addressing the delegation, Eze Dimgba emphasized the importance of using Journalism as a tool for development, enlightenment, and constructive engagement, urging Media Practitioners to focus attention on issues capable of transforming Mbaise socially, economically, and culturally.


“If you develop other places without developing Mbaise with your work, nobody will develop it for you. I encourage you to propagate what will make Mbaise thrive. You can advise and proffer solutions,” the Monarch declared.


He commended Journalists for their role in society, describing Media Professionals as Custodians of Truth and Public Enlightenment whose contributions remain vital in shaping public opinion and exposing societal realities.


“We thank you for your duty to society because you unravel truths and enlighten the masses,” he said, while expressing concern over reports that some journalists work under difficult conditions, including lack of adequate compensation for their services.


The monarch further called on media professionals to promote unity among Mbaise people through responsible reporting and constructive criticism, warning against greed, unhealthy rivalry, and personal interests capable of dividing the community.


“To me, there is no division in Mbaise except for greed and lording personal opinion on others,” he said, urging journalists to counsel the people against excessive ambition and encourage peace and understanding.


Eze Dimgba reiterated his commitment to strengthening unity among traditional rulers in Mbaise, maintaining that the Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers remains a heritage institution that should unite royal fathers under a common purpose.


He also stressed the importance of preserving cultural values and respecting traditional leadership structures, particularly in matters concerning Iriji Mbaise and the role of stakeholders within the cultural framework of the community.


Earlier, the FMMP delegation, led by President Patrick Chinenye Mgbaja, alongside Vice President Mary Ugorji, Secretary Chuks Anyanwu, Welfare Officer Vivian Iwu and other executive members, congratulated Eze Dimgba on his emergence as Chairman of the Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers following a keenly contested election.


The media professionals urged traditional rulers across Mbaise to support the chairman and lead by example in advancing peace, unity, and development across the region.


FMMP executives also informed the monarch of plans to honour former FMMP President, Comrade Ezenwa Adikwu, following his emergence as Vice President of Zone C (South-East) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists—a position they described as historic, being the first by an Imo indigene in more than three decades.


They further announced Eze Dimgba as the Royal Father of the Day for the planned reception and award ceremony and appealed to him to encourage prominent Mbaise sons and daughters to support media professionals through patronage for proper image profiling and promotion of Mbaise development.


The visit ended with prayers for wisdom, unity, and progress, as the monarch encouraged journalists to use their profession to strengthen communal harmony and “unite Mbaise with your work.”
